Caring for pets begins with everyday decisions. One of them is choosing nutrition that meets their needs and helps support their health throughout their lives. This is the idea behind the Longevity range from Ukrainian manufacturer PRACTIK.
For this range, we manufactured 2 kg Flat Bottom pouches for four SKUs: two products for cats and two for small-breed dogs and puppies. The key to this project was combining the range’s distinctive design with practical features that make dry pet food packaging convenient for everyday use.
Longevity is a nutritional concept focused on supporting pets’ health over the long term. It is based on a scientific approach to longevity. The manufacturer identifies six scientific principles of longevity: mobility, cellular energy, a healthy microbiome, antioxidant protection, muscle support and tissue repair, and mental activity.
Building on these principles, the formulations place particular emphasis on functional complexes that complement the core nutritional composition. These include:
This approach shapes the overall Longevity concept: nutrition is seen not only as a source of nutrients, but also as part of the daily care that supports a pet’s health.
A 2 kg Flat Bottom format was chosen for the PRACTIK Longevity range: a pouch that remains stable when filled and has five surfaces for print. This packaging format stands on the shelf without additional support and retains its shape. This helps organise the shelf display and makes the product stand out among others in its category. The visual design of packaging helps create a first impression of a product before the shopper reads its ingredients and features.
For PRACTIK Longevity, we combined a matte surface with selected gloss elements. The matte finish provides an understated background, while the gloss details add contrast and draw attention to specific elements of the design. This combination allows us to work with texture and light reflections without excessive decorative effects.
When choosing packaging for dry pet food, its appearance on the shelf matters, as does how convenient it is to use at home. PRACTIK Longevity packaging includes several functional features.
Zip closure allows the pouch to be reclosed after opening. This is convenient when the food is used gradually over several days or weeks.
Side notches help the user start opening the pouch at a designated point.
Laser scoring makes opening easier and helps ensure controlled tearing of the material without a scissors.
Each feature serves a specific purpose, but together they create a carefully considered user experience, from the first opening to reclosed the pouch.

The matte and gloss finish supports the range’s visual concept, while the zip closure, side notches and laser scoring make the pouch more convenient to use.
